Alfie

About Me
Alfie loves people. He will stay by your side and follow you around all day. He used to get upset at being left behind, but is now comfortable in his crate alone. If you work with him daily he is a quick learner of tricks and likes to please. His fur is more poodle like and needs to be brushed weekly with regular trims. After his grooming sessions he is a huge fluff ball. When we first brought him home as a puppy we had two other dogs about a year older than him. He urinated everywhere in the home to mark everything as his. This lessened greatly after he was neutered and is not much of a problem anymore. From the start he had food aggression so we always fed the dogs seperatly. When small he got into little fights or played too hard with the others from time to time, but it seemed like typical behavior to me. As he got older he would occasionally snap and start fights with the others, usually regarding toys or bones. He absoultly loves playing fetch, he will swim in the pool if we are all in there, likes to chase the kids. He plays hard then take lots of naps in between. He loves to take walks and does not bother or bark at others we pass. We have taken him to dog parks and he is more interested in the other humans and ignores the dogs. However, when left alone in the yard with our other dogs we started notices sores on them. I went back to work unplanned and he started getting a little naughty, didn't listen as well. It is very hot where we live so he has to be crated inside while we are gone for about 6 hours a day. I felt bad for this knowing how smart and good he is that we couldnt meet his needs. A family friend offered to take him as she stayed at home and they had 4 older active children an a doodle who wanted a friend. He was a perfect fit for them and had been living with them for 6 months. However, last week he was sitting on the couch with the daughter and the doodle he plays great with walked by and he attacked it unprovoked. The daughter intervined and he sliced open her hand. They called us and we immediatly picked him up to give him another chance with us. As soon as he walked in he started growling at our dogs (who were outside) through the door. He even growled at me when i went near him but attached well to my oldest daughter. She kept them seperated but every time he saw the other dogs in there crates he would growl. We tried to reintroduce and he immediatly tried to attack them. I took him to the animal shelter near us hoping they would rehome him with people without other pets. But because he bit a human they said they would euthanize him. We have reached out to family and friends but do not have anyone without pets willing to give him a home. Right now we are keeping the pets seperated while we continue a search for someone to love this sweet boy who thinks he is human. He is a great dog but his aggression issues are too difficult for us to handle.
